GRAYSON GOES GREEN AT THE IAA COMMERCIAL VEHICLE SHOW, HANOVER

Heat exchange specialist Grayson Thermal Systems is making the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover one of the highlights of its expanded 2010 show programme.
Grayson’s stand focuses on ‘Going Green’, reflecting the company’s current research and development focus, which has resulted in a number of new and upcoming systems to help manufacturers and operators boost the environmental performance of their vehicles.
The star of the Grayson stand is the company’s newly developed electric fan cooling module, installed alongside a Grayson Cassette 2 Plus cooling system.
The module has been designed both as a retro-fit option and for new OEM applications, enabling operators to save money and achieve environmental benefits.
It improves temperature control and fuel economy, optimises powertrain durability, cuts service time and reduces both noise and vibration.
The fans and pumps operate only when required, reducing energy losses and improving engine efficiency through more accurate control of engine temperatures.
The system requires minimal maintenance, reducing both costs and vehicle downtime, and the fans can be run in reverse mode to help in removing blockages.
The electric fan module has been installed in vehicles in Europe and the US, and fuel savings of at least seven per cent are being reported.
It is one of a number of projects that Grayson’s engineering department is working on to help operators get the best from their existing, traditionally-fuelled fleet in the light of rising fuel costs and tightening environmental legislation.
The company is also developing systems to optimise the performance of electric and hybrid drive vehicles.
This autumn Grayson will also be taking its ‘Going Green’ message to Euro Bus 2010 (NEC Birmingham) and the FIAA Show (Madrid).
