ENVIRONMENTAL FOCUS MAKES FOR SUCCESSFUL EURO BUS EXPO FOR GRAYSON
A strong focus on environmental issues meant a successful Euro Bus Expo for heat exchange specialist Grayson Thermal Systems, with two large OEMs expressing strong interest in the company’s new electric fan drive cooling system.
The system has been on long-term test in Euro 3 double deck buses, and is achieving fuel savings of around 10 per cent alongside lower maintenance costs, and reductions in noise levels of around 30 per cent.
It can be installed in new-build vehicles or retro-fitted, and Grayson reported strong interest from vehicle operators as well as OEMs.
This, coupled with a healthy list of enquiries about the company’s thermal resistor, made a generally quieter and smaller show highly successful for Grayson.
The thermal resistor can play an important part in optimising the environmental performance and customer acceptance of hybrid drive vehicles, by boosting the heat available to the vehicle interior and removing the need for a diesel-powered heater to be installed.
Both of these new products have been developed by Grayson’s in-house research and development team, and are being manufactured by the company at its two British manufacturing facilities.
Grayson managing director Stuart Hateley said: “Euro Bus Expo was a calmer and more thoughtful show this year, but visitors were very keen to move forward with development plans in a sustainable and cost-effective way.
“Our development focus has been very much in tune with this, and our new products hit the mood of the moment.”
