GRAYSON INVESTS £1M TO MEET EXPORT DEMAND | Autumn 2009
 Grayson Thermal Systems has invested £1m in a new furnace and associated plant at its aluminium manufacturing facility, to service increased demand from European and American vehicle manufacturers and their aftermarkets.
The new furnace is being installed alongside the company’s existing equipment to boost production from 300 units per week to 1300.
Managing director Stuart Hateley said that the company is also looking to acquire new, larger premises nearby to provide space for additional production and for a dedicated research and development centre.
 He said: “The expansion of the company’s production capacity is partly the result of our work over the past two years to develop export business in Europe.
“In addition, our new company in North America, Grayson Thermal Systems Corporation, is now fully operational, and we need to ensure that we can meet demand from American vehicle manufacturers as well.
“We are redoubling our focus on export markets during 2009 as the pound’s weakness against the dollar and the euro enhances our value-for-money proposition.”
The company will continue to manufacture its range of copper-brass products at its separate copper-brass facility, also in Tyseley.
 Grayson introduced all-aluminium charge air coolers into its range in 2003, followed by a range of fully-welded, all-aluminium radiators at the start of 2008, following intensive development work and product trials.
Since then, orders have exceeded forecasts, as a result of the superior thermal performance and enhanced durability of the products. They also offer cost benefits and a contribution to customers’ environmental programmes – being 100 per cent recyclable at the end of their working life.
