Grayson board shuffle to support export ambition

20th November 2013

James Hateley CEO Grayson Corp.Grayson Thermal Systems Group has appointed James Hateley as chief executive officer of its North American company Grayson Thermal Systems Corporation. He will bolster the current Grayson Corp. team and explore setting up an American manufacturing facility following a growth in sales to the USA and Canada.

James was formerly manufacturing director at the company’s UK head office in Birmingham, England. His new post is part of a reshuffle of the main board to ensure the group can support continued growth in Grayson’s North American and European markets – export turnover has grown to 9.5 per cent in the past 12 months, and further expansion is forecast for the coming year.

Group managing director Stuart Hateley has assumed responsibility for all European manufacturing operations, and for making sure Grayson retains a sharp focus on product development and quality standards.

Two new external appointments will support him in these aspects of his role. David Greaves has joined the group as process manufacturing manager, while Steve Park has taken up the post of operations manager.

Stuart said: “We believe strongly in the importance of developing our export business. It’s a strategy that helped us during the recession, and now we are redoubling our efforts to build on the successes we’ve had so far.

“It is important for us to invest in maintaining a credible, efficient presence in our overseas markets so that we can understand the needs of these customers and serve them effectively. We set up the North American operation in 2008 to do that, and one in Poland earlier this year. We remain open to the possibility of doing the same elsewhere.”

Ian Hateley remains the board director responsible for developing the group’s aftermarket and service divisions, and for managing the growing demand for maintenance contracts and for retrofit programmes.

Bernard Szypulski and Graham Hateley continue as group finance director and group chairman respectively.
