Overview

The LH1 Heat Pump is a compact, high-performance system designed to provide a constant supply of hot water for driver and passenger heating in battery-electric vehicles.

At 0°C ambient, the unit delivers up to 12kW heating with a 45°C coolant outlet temperature and achieves a COP greater than 3.0, ensuring more heat output than power consumed.

Controlled by the Grayson Intelligent Thermal Controller and proprietary control logic software, the system automatically adjusts to ambient and cabin conditions to maintain stable heating performance.

With rooftop or chassis mounting options, an integrated water pump and header tank, and straightforward CAN J1939 integration, the LH1 is a proven, energy-efficient solution for OEMs seeking reliable hot water generation in cold climates.

Features

Our heat pumps are designed to deliver efficient heating and cooling for driver and passenger cabins, ensuring comfort and reliability in all conditions

  • Hot water heating in cold ambient conditions: Ensures reliable driver and passenger comfort by maintaining a stable hot water supply when temperatures drop.
  • Performance at 0°C ambient: Delivers 12kW heating with 45°C coolant outlet, providing proven output under realistic operating conditions.
  • High efficiency (COP >3.0 at 0°C): Generates more heat than power consumed, significantly reducing energy demand compared to electric water heaters.
  • Grayson Intelligent Thermal Controller with proprietary software: Automatically adapts to ambient and cabin conditions, optimising performance.
  • Configurable temperature set-points and CAN addresses: Allows OEMs to tailor system behaviour to vehicle and fleet requirements.
  • CAN J1939 “plug and play” control: Industry-standard communication for seamless integration into vehicle networks.
  • Built-in diagnostics (DM1 messaging): Simplifies troubleshooting and supports predictive maintenance through vehicle CAN.
  • Bootloader-enabled software updates: Enables easy in-field updates via CAN, reducing downtime and service costs.
  • Wide high-voltage range (420–756V DC): Compatible with common BEV system architectures, ensuring flexible integration across platforms.
  • Low-voltage support (24V DC for fans, pump, controller): Separates auxiliary functions for stable operation and easier system design.
  • Integrated brushless water pump and header tank: Reduces packaging complexity and installation time, with long-life components for durability.
  • Compact and lightweight footprint: Ideal for rooftop or chassis/body mounting where space and weight are constrained.
  • Validated, homologated, and EMC R10 certified: Proven compliance with global vehicle standards, ensuring safety and regulatory approval.
  • Low-GWP refrigerant (R407C): Reduces environmental impact while maintaining stable thermal performance.
  • Optional integrated electric water heater (3.6–5kW): Boosts heating capacity in extreme low ambient climates, providing operational flexibility across territories.
  • Durable components (scroll compressor, brushless fans and pump): Enhances system longevity and reduces lifecycle costs.
  • Global manufacturing and aftersales support: Production in four plants worldwide with established aftermarket service ensures supply security and long-term support.
