To ensure the maximum performance and life of your rolling stock’s batteries, we have created a BTMS series designed and built specifically for the rail sector.
Our standard range of Rail BTMS offers active cooling and heating which can be specified for underframe or roof mounting, depending on the available space, required cooling capacity, and ambient temperature.
To deliver this essential active cooling, we use a high-performance refrigerant compressor and plated heat exchange which links into the battery water-glycol-circuits to ensure stable temperature at all times during daily operation and charging.
Through the considerable experience of our in-house team, we also ensure that our systems meet the extensive Rail sector compliance requirements. Our entire Rail BTMS are designed to comply with the following standards:
BS EN 61373 2010 – Shock and Vibration Testing
BS EN 50155 2017 – Electronic equipment
BS EN 50126 – The Specification and Demonstration of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS)
BS EN 50121-3-2 2016 – Electromagnetic compatibility
BS EN 45545 – Fire protection on Railway Vehicles
BS EN 12663-1 2010+A1 2014 – Structural Requirements of Railway Bodies
BS EN 50125 2014-1 – Environmental conditions for equipment
BS EN 50153 2014 A1 2017 – Protective provisions relating to electrical hazards
We also have the technical and manufacturing experience and expertise in the sector to develop bespoke solutions for you, if required, which can include the option of passive cooling if the external climatic conditions vs. coolant set point are favourable.
